Baseball has been around in Cleveland since 1869 and the Indians franchise since 1901. In 1994 baseball was reborn as a Cleveland staple with the opening of Jacobs Field. The new home for baseball added to the renaissance of the city of Cleveland with the urban renewal near downtown. Associated with the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex, Jacobs Field joins Gund Arena, home of the NBA Cavaliers on the urban landscape.
Jacobs Field brought an intimate environment for baseball to the city of Cleveland. The urban ballpark resides within the boundaries of three main streets in downtown. Wider aisles and more leg room add to improved sight lines for a comfortable seating arrangement at the Jake. Several sections in the park see angled seats to maintain a view of the middle of the diamond.
